This year, let your money do the heavy lifting

Because waiting for payday? That’s so last year.

So, let’s talk about it. Another year rolls in, and with it, another list of resolutions you swear you’ll keep - more workouts, less late-night partying, maybe even that elusive social media detox. But let’s be real. If you’re not paying attention to one of the most important enablers in your life - your money - then what’s the point of all this self-improvement anyway?

It’s time to step it up. And I’m not just talking about working harder. I’m talking about working smarter.

Resolution #1: Get a side hustle

Side hustles aren’t just buzzwords anymore - they’re great stepping stones to get you to your destination. Tuition gigs, freelance writing, reselling thrifted finds - find something that works for you.

Side hustles aren’t just about the money, though. They are about giving you an outlet to pursue the things you love - and sharing them with the people you love (AND making new friends along the way). Got a knack for creating content? Start a TikTok channel and focus on a hobby or something you’re keen to learn more about. Always on the lookout for good deals? Consider reselling on consumer marketplaces like Carousell.

Best of all, they are giving you a leg up to help you achieve those dreams - whether it’s that trip to Bali or helping you chip away at those big bills. The best part? You don’t need to start big. Just start.

Resolution #2: Stack the skills that pay

Skills are the ultimate investment, and I’m talking beyond diplomas and degrees. These days, it’s all about practical know-how. Like learning how to network without sounding like a LinkedIn post

Need some inspiration? I’ve been alternating internship tasks and listening to finance-related podcasts whenever I use the treadmill. A little effort goes a long way - and your future self will thank you for it.

Resolution #3: Put yourself first

Not all resolutions need to be about being “productive”. Make one for you. My 2025 goal? To play basketball at least twice a week. Whatever yours might be, just make sure it’s something you genuinely enjoy. Because here’s the thing: you deserve a break.

It’s easy to let life run on autopilot, but this year’s about taking control. Saving, earning, and enjoying - quietly or loudly, the key is to just start.

So, ready to make 2025 yours?

Signed, Sealed, Stacked.
